Chocolate chips, dipping chocolate, or chocolate candy
Toppings
Cooking Spray
Equipment:
A metal or glass baking pan
A microwave safe bowl
A pot
Toothpicks or skewers
A large plate
Small plates
An air tight container
A whisk
A hand mixer
Cookie sheets
Wax Paper
A microwave oven
A regular oven
A refrigerator
A sink
A mixing bowl
Measuring cups
An apron
Optional:
Lollipop sticks
What to Do
Step 1. Bake the cake according to the directions on the box. Usually all
you need is water, oil, and eggs. The box directions will tell you the
measurements. Make sure your oven is preheated to the directed
temperature. If you are using a glass baking pan, the temperature will be
different from that of a metal pan.
Step 2. Grease the baking pan, and also be sure to grease the sides. Then
pour the batter into your pan. Bake for the directed time or until a
toothpick or skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 3. Let the cake cool completely.
Step 4. If you sprayed your pan, the bottom and sides, when you turn the
pan upside down, the cake should come right out with minimal assistance
from you. Remove the cake from the pan and put it in the mixing bowl.
Step 5. Using your hands, crumble the cake until you have crumbs. Add
the entire can of frosting and crumble some more until the cake crumbs
and frosting are combined.
Step 6. Put the cake mixture in the refrigerator for an hour. You want to
let the mixture get firm so it is easier to work with. You almost want it to
be a dough consistency.
Step 7. Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and make into balls. If
using lollipop sticks, insert them in each ball.
Step 8. Using the stove or the microwave, melt the chocolate. Be sure
you are stirring it constantly if you are using the stove, and stop it every
30 seconds to stir it if using the microwave so you don't burn the
chocolate.
Step 9. Line cookie sheets with wax paper. Then dip each ball into the
chocolate.
Step 10. If using toppings, dip each ball into the toppings you are using.
Step 11. Place each cake pop on the wax paper then place them in the
refrigerator to harden the chocolate.
Step 12. Remove from the refrigerator. Put the cake pops on a plate or a
serving dish, and enjoy!
Way too much effort required to make the actual cake pops... you're better off getting either
an electric cake pop maker or a cake pop mold cookie sheet to make them in the oven.
It's worth it though. I made these and they were easy I burned the
chocolate but they are fairly easy to make.
It sounds fun! I've heard of people using these at a baby shower to tell others the gender of the new babe. Pink frosting for girl blue for boy. You wouldn't know what it was until you bit into the cake pop. So cute and creative!
What's this doing in crafts and hobbies?
While it could be argued that it belongs in grub garage, it's also something that the parent and kids could all be involved in, and since it's all about creativity and customization, I can see how it could be here as well.
Yes. I agree.
My Wife had the Daughter and friends do this. I dunno, how it went, as when I
came home I just did the dishes and She had squirreled aaway a coulee of them
for me. I didn't see the show though, but from the cleanup it looked like
everyone was having fun.
hahaha will make them for danny's Birthday in September but can you also take finished cake?
